Global Landscape of Payment, Settlement and Digital Currency for Central Banks

Overview

1. Settlement and Clearing systems of central banks have undergone a series of paradigm shifts, and now digital and global age has come, Central banks need to deal with more and more increased complexity. We show how to implement financial system from the technical perspective. Flexible adaptation between latest technology and existing system become more important, and continuous support is essential for maximizing utilization of implemented platform.
2. As latest activity for Digital Currency(CBDC), Italian Banking Association has launched a project of Central Bank Digital Euro. As NTT DATA, being the strategic and technological advisor, we identified different use cases dealing with finalized money and developed a wallet application for retail payments that enables the management of programmable money. In the form of Ethereum tokens, whose expense is exclusively addressable in specific contexts, such as the use of Government Bonuses or P2P finalization. We will present the first of these three use cases, named Culture Pass.
