AIG Women's Open

NTT DATA has worked closely with The R&A to provide cutting-edge technologies to enhance the fan experience for golf enthusiasts.

In line with The R&A's commitment to transforming golf for women, NTT DATA commits to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE & I). Based on the relationship of the trust built up through 10 years of cooperation, NTT DATA began co-sponsoring the AIG Women's Open for the first time this year. The AIG Women's Open is the most international major tournament in women's golf and plays a role in the five major Women's golf tournaments.

Women's empowerment throughout AIG Women's Open

Ahead of the AIG Women's Open teeing off next week, Maria Metz, CEO of NTT DATA Romania caught up with the Director of Golf Development at The R&A, Jackie Davidson to talk about the importance of the extension of NTT DATA's patronage of The Open to The Women's Open for the first time this year.

The profile of women's sport - and golf in particular - has grown dramatically in recent years, and NTT DATA is proud to support this flagship event as part of our renewed partnership with the R&A.

Champions in Conversation at The AIG Women's Open

During AIG Women's Open, Sarah Wood, who drives diversity and inclusion at NTT DATA UK, conducted a live stream interview with Anna Nordqvist, who won the tournament last year.

During the interview, Anna shared her personal experience and thoughts on the issues she faced being a female athlete, such as the impact of pregnancy and birth on women’s careers, as well as the inequality of earnings between male and female athletes.

The challenges she mentioned exist not only in golf – a lot of similar issues apply to the business world, and these disparities should be addressed.

NTT DATA is proud to support the R&A's ambition to transform women's and girls’ golf. This sponsorship is a testament to our ongoing efforts to promote diversity, equality, and inclusion.

NTT DATA launches a first for golf at The 150th Open– a new virtual viewing experience that allows viewers to select a course map of their choice and view every shot, player, hole, and round in real-time via a Digital Twin.
The Digital twin is realized by reflecting color and texture from satellite images on a precise 3D golf course and reproducing ball position in real-time. This data is incorporated into the Open.com leaderboard, live blog, and ShotView to provide an informative and engaging viewing experience for golf fans.

The 150th leaderboard will be available by July 2023.

Kaz Nishihata and Laurence Norman from NTT DATA found out how ShotView brought a new golf-watching experience to fans at St. Andrews and at their home as well. ShotView was available on NTT DATA Wall at the old course, St. Andrews. It was also available online, and they could enjoy every shot of every player throughout the four-day tournament.
They explored how ShotView changed the fans' experience and even enjoyed a real game of golf at St. Andrews!

NTT DATA WALL has an overwhelming presence at the Open venue and delivers real-time excitement to spectators. During the 2022 Championship, the golfers’ face-off unfolded at St. Andrews and was reproduced on ShotView platform in real-time. Highlights of the game extracted by an algorithm were displayed on the NTT DATA WALL. Many spectators enjoyed watching golf in front of the NTT DATA WALL screen.
